I loved my time at St Martins, and my final collection there is a culmination of what I learned and what I loved to do- namely bright colours, contrasting textures and embroidery.
I actually employed what seemed my mother's entire village to help with this; a lot of knitters and crafters, from old ladies embroidering panels for dresses, woodcrafters turning off-cuts into necklaces, Girl Scouts helping with the French knitting straps... it was immensely stressful, but super fun.
