Look at the face! You can be forgiven for wondering if the potoo bird is real thanks to those eyes, but it is- the Common Potoo can be found from Mexico to Argentina.
They mimic the perch they rest on, choosing branches that are similar in shape to their own bodies. They might be hard to spot, but not hear: a potoo’s cry is loud, and infamously creepy to hear in the middle of a dark forest…
